Dr. Abinaya S is an Assistant Professor at the SRM College of Occupational Therapy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli Campus, serving in this role since October 2023. She earned her Master's in Occupational Therapy (MOT) with a specialization in Mental Health, achieving University First Rank and Gold Medallist honors. In her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) program, she received Academic Excellence certificates for the 2nd, 3rd, and final years, as well as the S.R. BHAGAVANLU Award for UG Academic Excellence in 2015. Her professional career encompasses both academic and clinical experience: she previously worked as a Lecturer at Krishna College of Occupational Therapy, affiliated with TN Dr. MGR Medical University, from February 2020 to May 2021; clinically, she served as an Occupational Therapist at La Rehab Clinic in Trichy from May 2015 to December 2016 and at Life Healthcare Rehabilitation in Chennai from October 2017 to February 2018. Dr. Abinaya S's areas of expertise include mental health, geriatrics, rehabilitation, and mindfulness. She teaches courses such as Occupational Therapy Practices in Mental Health (MOT), Neuroanatomy, OT in Psychiatry, Group Process, Basics in Occupational Therapy, OT in Education, Theoretical Concepts and Models in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy in Physical and Mental Health, OT Assessment and Intervention, and Theoretical Foundation in Occupational Therapy. She maintains active memberships in the All India Occupational Therapists' Association (AIOTA membership no. L-6163/2022) and the Tamil Nadu branch of AIOTA (TNAIOTA membership no. L-891/21). Dr. Abinaya S has participated in numerous Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), including NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme by MMTTC, Tezpur University (July 7–16, 2025), Outcome Based Pedagogic Principles for Effective Teaching by IIT Kharagpur (2025), Introduction to Basic Cognitive Processes by IIT Madras (2025), Competency Based Education & E-Content Development by SRM Trichy (2025), and Designing Learner-Centric MOOCs by IIT Bombay (2024). Additional workshops include Research Methodology & Funding Proposals (2024), Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (2023), and Essentials of Occupational Therapy in Leprosy by Schieffelin Institute. She attended national conferences on Autism (2012), Traumatic Brain Injury (2013), Oncology Rehabilitation (2014), and AIOTA conferences (2013, 2014), along with COTEs on vocational rehabilitation, pain management, and OT practice in Saudi Arabia. Notably, she organized a National level workshop on Sensory Integration (July 31–August 1, 2025) and a National Conference on current trends in healthcare research themed 'Transformative approaches in Health Care Research' (March 27, 2025), both at the College of Occupational Therapy, SRMIST Trichy.
