Adam Thomas is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Curtin Medical School, Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. He holds the key role of Clinical Dean of General Practice, where he leads efforts to advance general practice education and training. Additionally, Thomas serves as a Senior Lecturer and maintains an active practice as a General Practitioner, integrating clinical expertise with academic teaching. His positions highlight Curtin University's focus on Health Sciences, particularly in preparing students for primary care careers through hands-on and innovative educational approaches.
Originally from Shropshire in the UK, Dr Thomas recently relocated to Perth, bringing extensive experience in medical education and general practice. He has been instrumental in launching the GP-TEN program at Curtin Medical School, aimed at strengthening general practice training. Thomas collaborates on the RACGP Education Research Grant Program with colleagues including Dr Jacquie Garton-Smith and Prof Carole Steketee, contributing to research that enhances medical education. He engages with students through activities such as accompanying second-year medical students on trips with Rural Health West and delivers presentations on rural and remote healthcare, as seen in his talk at the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine 2025 Roadshow in Perth. His special interests include diabetes management, reflecting his commitment to comprehensive primary care. Through these contributions, Adam Thomas plays a vital role in fostering the next generation of general practitioners equipped for diverse healthcare challenges in Australia.
