Dr Alyse Davies is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at the School of Health, University of the Sunshine Coast. She is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitian, and a member of the Indigenous Nutrition Leadership team at Dietitians Australia. Dr Davies completed her PhD, Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney, where she remains a research affiliate in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Her research specializations include investigating the diets, energy status and nutritional knowledge of performing artists, implementation and evaluation of health and nutrition programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Pacific Islanders, and evaluation of curriculum design, teaching practices and assessment of competency in nutrition and dietetics training. She has led or contributed to major research grants such as the Heart Foundation First Nations CVD Grant and an MRFF grant on Indigenous dance for health. In 2022, Dr Davies received the Joan Woodhill Prize for Excellence in Research from Dietitians Australia. Her teaching areas encompass public health nutrition, research and evaluation in nutrition and dietetics, and healthy food systems.
