Dr. Peter McClenaghan serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the UNE Business School at the University of New England. He earned a BA (Hons) and a PhD from UNE. His research focuses on student leadership development, values-based leadership, school empowerment evaluation, and virtual teams and trust. McClenaghan coordinates several postgraduate units, including Advanced Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Research Methods, and Leadership, along with undergraduate courses in Human Resource Planning and Organisational Development, and Organisational Research Methods. He has supervised four PhD completions since 2015 and currently co-supervises nine Masters and Doctoral students.
McClenaghan has held positions as a Visiting Academic at ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, and as a regular Visiting Professor at the University of Tartu School of Economics and Business Administration in Estonia since 2015. He is a Certified Master Coach for the Leading, Managing, and Coaching by Values program (ICF; CCE) and certified in facilitating Crucial Conversations, DISC, and Emotional Intelligence assessments. His professional engagements include leading the ACIAR JAFel International PhD Student Leadership Program, Armidale Regional Council Executive Leadership Program (2018-2019), and various UNE student residential college leadership programs. He served as an Elected Member of the UNE Academic Board (2013-2019) and UNE Elected Academic Representative on the UniSuper Consultative Committee (2005-2019). Awards include Woolworths SIFE Australia Most Outstanding Mentor (2004, 2007) and the Commonwealth Postgraduate Research Award (1997). Key publications are 'The space between – linking trust with individual and team performance in virtual teams' (Team Performance Management, 2019, with Jaakson and Reino) and 'Modelling the influences of evaluation on school principals: Towards evaluation capacity building' (Evaluation Journal of Australasia, 2015, with Ikin). He has delivered numerous refereed conference papers on leadership and evaluation internationally.
