About Adônis

Adônis Q. Tenório is a professor at Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). He participated as a researcher from UFPA in a collaborative study with Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, Embrapa Florestas, and Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA) on endophytic bacteria that promote the growth of black pepper plants (Piper nigrum L.). The study, published in Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, identified bacterial strains including Priestia sp. T2.2 and Lysinibacillus sp. C5.11 isolated from healthy plant roots in Pará plantations. These strains demonstrated significant enhancements in rooting and aerial growth of cuttings under controlled conditions.

Adônis Q. Tenório leads studies focused on Amazonian soils and sustainability. The research highlights mechanisms such as production of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and siderophores that aid nutrient uptake and plant vigor, offering potential for more sustainable cultivation practices in the region.
