Dr. Ahmad Kutkut is the Professor and Division Chief of Prosthodontics at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He also serves as Director of the Predoctoral Implant Program and maintains a practice limited to implants, fixed and removable prosthodontics. Kutkut began his tenure at the University of Kentucky in September 2011 as faculty in the Department of Oral Health Practice. He was elevated to Associate Professor with tenure and later promoted to full Professor. In 2020, he received a University Endowed Professorship in Dentistry. An active member of the American Dental Education Association, International Team for Implantology, American College of Prosthodontics, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Kutkut holds Diplomate status from the ICOI, the highest credential awarded by that organization. He has developed several new courses in implantology and prosthodontics and organizes the annual dental implant symposium at the College of Dentistry.
Kutkut's academic journey includes earning a DDS from the University of Jordan in 2001, a Certificate of Advanced Education in General Dentistry from New York University College of Dentistry in 2005, a Certificate in Implant Dentistry from New York University Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in 2007, a Master's Degree and Certificate in Prosthodontics from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2010, and a PhD in Clinical and Translational Sciences from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2021. His research focuses on implant dentistry, digital dentistry, prosthodontics, and dental education. Notable publications include "Comparison of Implant-Retained Overdenture and Conventional Complete Denture: A Survey Study to Measure Patients' Satisfaction and Quality of Life in Dental School Clinics" (2024, Journal of Oral Implantology), "Prevalence of Decay and Tooth Condition Changes Adjacent to Restored Dental Implants: A Retrospective Radiographic Study" (2024, Journal of Oral Implantology), "A Cephalometric Analysis Assessing the Validity of Camper’s Plane to Establishing the Occlusal Plane in Edentulous Patients" (2023, Dentistry Journal), and his dissertation "Comparison of Implant-Retained Overdenture and Conventional Complete Denture" (2021). With over 1,270 citations, his work influences the field significantly. Kutkut reviews for the Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Oral Implantology, and others, and delivers lectures nationally and internationally at venues like the Academy of Osseointegration and American College of Prosthodontics meetings. He received the 2017 UKCD Dean’s Research Award for his independent research and student mentoring.
