Professor Ahmed Ali Alraeesi serves as Vice Chancellor and Professor of Hydrogeology at United Arab Emirates University. With more than two decades of academic experience, he has played a significant role in higher education leadership, teaching, and graduate student mentorship. Throughout his career, he has held several senior academic and administrative positions, including Associate Provost of Research, Chair of the Geology Department, Vice Dean and Dean of the College of Science, Acting Dean of the College of Education, and Acting Vice Chancellor. Prof. Alraeesi holds a Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University, USA. His research interests focus on hydrogeology, water resources, and isotope hydrology, with a strong emphasis on sustainable water management. He has authored over 70 publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and has delivered more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences. Beyond academia, Prof. Alraeesi contributes extensively to national and international initiatives related to water sustainability and science policy. He is a founding member of the UAE Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme National Committee and serves on the board of the UAE Water Aid Foundation. He has also participated in the Permanent Consultation Mechanism of the Groundwater Governance Project, served on the Emirates Scientists Council, and been a member of the National Committee on Combating Desertification. Appointed by UNESCO to the Advisory Board for Open Science, he also spearheaded UAEU initiatives at COP28, reinforcing his leadership in advancing sustainability and scientific collaboration at both national and global levels. He has more than 15 years of experience in teaching and supervising graduate students, with research focusing on water security and sustainability.
