Alberto Sanchez-Fueyo is Professor of Hepatology and Academic Head of the Institute of Liver Studies at King's College London. He also serves as Honorary Transplant Hepatology Consultant at King's College Hospital. His research focuses on the mechanisms responsible for immunological tolerance in transplantation and the development of novel immunomodulatory therapies for liver transplantation. He leads a translational research group investigating liver immunology, transplantation, hepatobiliary neoplasms and immunometabolism, with emphasis on the generation of genetically engineered regulatory T cells for immunotherapeutic purposes.
Sanchez-Fueyo received his MD and PhD and trained in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has held appointments at King's College London where he contributes to the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies in partnership with the Foundation for Liver Research. He co-founded Quell Therapeutics in 2019 as a King's College London spin-off biotechnology company. His work has received funding from the Medical Research Council, National Institute for Health and Care Research, National Institutes of Health and European Union.
