About Alec

Alec Morton is an Associate Professor (Practice) in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He holds a BSc in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Manchester (1995) and an MSc in Operational Research from the University of Strathclyde. His career has included positions at Singapore Airlines, the National University of Singapore, and the London School of Economics, along with visiting appointments at Carnegie Mellon University, Aalto University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and the National Audit Office. Concurrently, he serves as Professor of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde.

Morton’s research focuses on decision analysis and health economics, with applications in healthcare management and related fields. He has contributed to projects funded by organizations including the European Commission, the UK Department of Health, the Medical Research Council, and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. He is a member of the International Decision Support Initiative and has consulted for entities such as the National Audit Office, the Environment Agency, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Morton has received awards including the Decision Analysis Society Publication Award in 2013 for the book Portfolio Decision Analysis (co-authored with Jeff Keisler and Ahti Salo) and other recognitions from ISPOR and the Society for Risk Analysis. He serves on the editorial board of Decision Analysis and as an associate editor for journals including the EURO Journal on Decision Processes, Transactions of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and OR Spectrum. He is Programme Director of the MSc in Health Economics and Outcomes Research at NUS.
