Alex Borland is the Group Leader Facilities (Campus) within the Property Services department at the University of Otago, based in Dunedin. As Facilities Manager for Professional Services, Lecture Theatres, and Libraries, he acts as the primary point of contact for all building-related needs. In February 2023, addressing the refresh of Auahi Ora Union Dining Hall following the closure of several campus cafés, Borland indicated that chairs and tables would remain at the Hunter Centre temporarily, with plans to add furniture and space for students to heat their own food; the Lab space might serve for relaxation and informal meetings, while options for Frankly Sandwiches site were under review. Additionally, in 2024, he won first place in the FMANZ 'Strike a pose for World FM Day' photo competition.
