Dr. Alex Citurs serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he also acts as Business Information Systems Program Coordinator, Assistant Chair, and faculty advisor for the BIS-ITSA student chapter. He earned his PhD in Management Information Systems from Case Western Reserve University and his MBA in Management Information Systems and Operations Research from the University of Iowa. Before joining academia, Citurs held information systems-related positions at Allied Group, IBM, and State Farm Insurance. He has consulted with various companies on project management and technology adoption projects. His teaching interests encompass information management, business information systems and web technologies, social informatics, emerging technologies and business applications, inter-organizational healthcare information systems, electronic commerce, business database management, business database applications, business intelligence and data solutions, and rapid IT development management.
Citurs' research specializations include knowledge management, project management of information systems, technology adoption, and student information systems experiential learning. Under his guidance, BIS-ITSA club members have secured national championships and top placements in competitions like the Database Driven Website Competition, including first place in 2010 and top 10 finishes eight times in ten years, alongside presentations at national conferences.
