Dr. Alex Sharland is a Professor of Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Analytics in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama within the field of Business & Economics. He holds a BA from the University of Stirling, an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a PhD in Marketing and International Business from Florida State University. Prior to his appointment at the University of South Alabama, where he has taught for over twelve years, Dr. Sharland served on the faculties of Barry University and Hofstra University as Assistant Professor of Marketing and International Business. He also contributes to the International Studies program with expertise in international business and serves as faculty advisor for the university rugby club.
Dr. Sharland's research specializations include sovereign wealth funds, the role of private and corporate foreign investment in the economic development of small island and Caribbean economies, risk management, international negotiation, and emerging market consumer behavior.
