Amanda Jankus is a teaching faculty member in the Communication Studies department at Bellevue College. She earned her Master’s degree in Communication from Purdue University, where she taught Introduction to Communication for three years. Jankus has over 20 years of teaching experience at community colleges in the Chicago area prior to relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 from Chicago. She has also taught multiple classes at South Seattle Community College and continues her instructional role at Bellevue College. Her international teaching experience includes time spent in Gulu, Uganda, which she incorporates into her courses with a focus on culture and communication. Jankus strives to create a fun and inviting classroom environment with a family vibe that encourages students to share their voices and stories. Her favorite part of teaching is learning from and about her students.
In the Communication Studies department, formed in 2008 through the merger of the Speech and Communication departments, Jankus teaches core courses such as CMST& 101 Introduction to Communication, CMST& 210 Interpersonal Communication, CMST& 220 Public Speaking, and CMST& 280 Intercultural Communication. These courses appear in syllabi spanning multiple years, including Spring 2012, Fall 2013, Winter 2013, Spring 2014, Fall 2018, Winter 2020, and others, delivered in various formats including hybrid, online, and in-person. She maintains an office at R230 L and serves as a contact person for Faculty Commons events, such as Creating Grief Informed Classrooms. Jankus brings passion and excitement from her Chicago roots into the classroom to foster effective communicators in diverse settings.
