Professor Amar Patnaik serves as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela in 2009, M.Tech. in Production Engineering from NIT Rourkela in 2005, MBA in Marketing from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela in 2003, and B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Rural Engineering College (REC), Hulkoti, Karnataka in 2000. His research specializations include composite materials, tribology, modelling and simulation, biomaterials, and metal casting. Prof. Patnaik has garnered over 13,426 citations on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 46 and i10-index of 183, demonstrating substantial impact in tribology and fracture analysis. He has supervised 38 Ph.D. students and currently oversees 10 more, alongside numerous M.Tech. and B.Tech. theses.
Prof. Patnaik's career includes serving as Associate Professor at MNIT Jaipur since May 2018, Assistant Professor at NIT Hamirpur from 2007 to 2012, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer at GIET Gunupur from 2000 to 2006. He has secured 22 research projects from funding agencies such as the Ministry of Textiles, DST, CSIR, SPARC, Ministry of Steel, DRDO, ISRO, and SERB. Notable awards include recognition in the World’s Top 2% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2021 and 2022, MNIT Jaipur Outstanding Teacher Award in 2022, Ganesh Mishra Memorial Awards in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and Excellence Paper Award in 2010 by the Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel.
