Andrea La Nauze is an Associate Professor of Economics in Deakin Business School within the Faculty of Business and Law at Deakin University. She specializes in environmental and energy economics, employing observational, survey, and experimental data to investigate consumer behaviour related to sustainable energy practices, such as rooftop solar uptake, electric vehicle adoption, and the cognitive effects of air pollution. La Nauze obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Melbourne in 2017, following a Master of Economics in 2011 and undergraduate degrees comprising a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environment from the same institution.
Before her current role, she was a Research Fellow at the School of Economics, University of Queensland, where she continues as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow. La Nauze holds a Westpac Research Fellowship awarded in 2023 to assess the economic costs of poor air quality and is a Research Affiliate at the CESifo Institute in Munich. She received the UQ Foundation Research Excellence Award and leads the Virtual Energy Network project at Deakin. Notable publications include "Air Pollution and Adult Cognition: Evidence from Brain Training" with Edson Severnini (2024), "Power from the People: Rooftop Solar and a Downward-Sloping Supply of Electricity" (2019), "Challenges in the Consumer-Side of the Energy Transition" (2024), and "Do Consumers Acquire Information Optimally? Evidence from a Field Experiment on Electricity" (2023). Her research informs policy on renewable energy integration and has been featured in seminars and podcasts.
