A true role model for academic success.
Andrés Alayón Glazunov is an ELLIIT Senior Associate Professor with the Department of Science and Technology at Linköping University, Norrköping, Sweden, leading the Radio, Propagation and Antenna Systems research group in the Engineering field. He received his MSc (Engineer-Researcher) degree in physical engineering from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Russia, in 1994, PhD degree in electrical engineering from Lund University, Sweden, in 2009, and Docent (Habilitation) qualification in antenna systems from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, in 2017. His career history includes various research and specialist positions in the telecom industry at Ericsson Research, Telia Research, and TeliaSonera in Stockholm, Sweden, from 1996 to 2005, where he served as Swedish Delegate to European COST Action 273 (2001-2005) and contributed to the first standardized OTA measurement techniques for 3GPP. Subsequently, he held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Centre for Wireless Network Design, University of Bedfordshire, UK (2009-2010), Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Electromagnetic Engineering Laboratory, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden (2010-2014), Assistant Professor in Antenna Systems at Chalmers University of Technology (2014-2018), Associate Professor in Radio Systems at University of Twente, Netherlands (2018-2023), and since 2023, Guest Associate Professor in Radio Systems at University of Twente.
Glazunov's academic interests and research specializations encompass mmWave array antenna design, MIMO antenna systems, electromagnetic theory, fundamental limitations on antenna-channel interactions, radio propagation channel measurements, modeling and simulations, OTA characterization of antenna systems and wireless devices for communication, localization, and sensing applications, and wireless performance in the built environment. He is the author or co-author of more than 175 scientific and technical publications, including co-editor of the book LTE-Advanced and Next Generation Wireless Networks – Channel Modelling and Propagation (Wiley, 2012). Key recent publications include "Low-profile, wideband, wide-scanning tightly coupled dipole phased array antenna" (Frontiers in Communications and Networks, 2025), "Stochastic Modeling and Analysis of Gain Ripple Effects in Automotive Corner Radar Antennas" (IEEE AP-S/URSI, 2025), and "Power-Angle Spectrum Characterization based on Antenna Directivity Statistics in Wireless Multipath Channels Using Spherical Vector Waves" (EuCAP 2025). He pioneered novel OTA techniques such as Random-LOS and Hybrid multipath-LOS OTA chambers, contributed to H2020 projects including is3DMIMO, WAVECOMBE, 5VC, and Build-Wise, served as Dutch Delegate to COST Action IRACON (2018-2020), and contributed to 3GPP and ITU standardization bodies. Glazunov is an IEEE Senior Member.
