Andrew Edwards is an Associate Professor in Molecular Microbiology at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Department of Infectious Disease and the Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology. His research focuses on understanding how antibiotics kill bacteria, how this process is affected by the host, and the mechanisms underlying antibiotic resistance. He also investigates novel therapeutics for bacterial infections.
Edwards serves as a Reader in Molecular Microbiology and Group Leader at the Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology. His work contributes to efforts addressing bacterial resistance, including studies on outer membrane permeabilisers and related antimicrobial strategies. He has been cited over 4,500 times in academic literature for contributions in bacterial infection, antibiotics, and novel therapeutics.
