Angappa Gunasekaran, Ph.D., is Professor of Supply Chain Management in the School of Business Administration at Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg - The Capital College. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, India, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. His research specializations include operations management, information systems, and emerging areas of operations management and information systems.
Dr. Gunasekaran has held key leadership positions, including Director of Penn State Harrisburg's School of Business Administration from August 16, 2021, to December 31, 2023; Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration at California State University, Bakersfield (2017-2021) and Special Assistant to the Provost for Academic Affairs and Student Success (2021); Dean of Charlton College of Business at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth (2013-2017), Chairperson of the Department of Decision and Information Sciences (2006-2012), and Founding Director of the Business Innovation Research Center. Earlier roles encompass Senior Lecturer at Brunel University, Lecturer at Monash University, faculty at University of Vaasa, and postdoctoral fellowships at Laval University and Concordia University. With over ten years of global work experience, he has served as visiting professor at many universities, contributed to AACSB peer review teams, and worked with NASPAA and regional accreditors including NEASC and WASC. He serves on editorial boards of over 30 peer-reviewed journals and has organized international workshops and conferences.
Dr. Gunasekaran has published more than 450 journal articles, amassing over 85,000 citations. Key publications include 'A framework for supply chain performance measurement' (2004), 'Performance measures and metrics in a supply chain environment' (2004), 'Big data analytics and firm performance: Effects of dynamic capabilities' (2017), 'Information systems in supply chain integration and management' (2004), and 'Responsive supply chain: A competitive strategy in a networked economy' (2003). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals such as decent work and economic growth, industry innovation, and responsible consumption and production. Honors include Distinguished Professor at University of Vaasa, King Saud University, and Symbiosis International University, and George Blumenthal Scholar.
