Professor Angela Knox is a Professor of Management specialising in work and employment in the Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney Business School. She holds a BSc (Hons), MCom (Hons), and PhD from the University of Melbourne. As Academic Director (Academic Development) and Academic Director of Professional Development in the Business School, she leads academic development programs and has co-chaired the University of Sydney Business School Learning and Teaching Forum. Her teaching contributions focus on work and organisational studies, supporting educational initiatives through the Business Co-Design team.
Angela Knox's research interests include job quality, precarious work, skills and migration, sexual harassment at work, workplace bullying, employers’ engagement with employment service providers, future of work, quality of working life, life course and job quality, employment relations and policy-making, temporary sponsored skilled migrants, older workers’ employment participation, regulatory avoidance in temporary work agencies, skills in service sector work, work organisation and bullying, and human resource management in temporary work agencies. Key publications comprise the co-edited book Job Quality in Australia: Perspectives, Problems and Proposals (Federation Press, 2017, with Chris Warhurst); 'Developing a Standard Measure of Job Quality' (Work, Employment and Society, 2025); 'Work organisation, bullying and intention to leave in the hospitality industry' (International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, 2025); 'Human resource management (HRM) in temporary work agencies: evidence from the hospitality industry' (The Economic and Labour Relations Review, 2023); 'The role of life course in understanding job quality' (Human Relations, 2022); and 'Using or abusing? Scrutinising employer demand for temporary sponsored skilled migrants' (Economic and Industrial Democracy, 2019). She serves as Editor of Work, Employment and Society and Editorial Board member of Human Relations, with her work cited over 860 times on ResearchGate, impacting discussions on employment policy and practices.
