Dr. Anilkumar A serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at K.S. Institute of Technology, Bangalore. He earned his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore Institute of Technology in 2012, M.Tech. in Machine Design from K.S. Institute of Technology in 2014, and Ph.D. in Vibrations and Acoustics from B.M.S. College of Engineering in 2025. With 11.5 years of teaching experience, his area of specialization is Machine Design. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Computer Aided Machine Drawing, Kinematics of Machines, Dynamics of Machines, Design of Machine Elements I and II, Finite Element Method, Theory of Elasticity, Theory of Plasticity, Tribology, Computer Aided Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Python Programming, and Mechanics of Materials. His research interests encompass vibrations, acoustics, finite element methods, and composite materials.
Dr. Anilkumar A has authored seven publications in national and international journals and conferences, including 'Studies on mechanical, wear and corrosion properties of Al6061-beryl-cerium oxide hybrid metal matrix composites' (2014), 'Mechanical Characterization of Al6061/ZrO2/Zirconium Sand Hybrid Metal Matrix Composite' (2016), 'Impact of Boundary conditions and Radius of curvature on Vibro-Acoustic Behavior of Cold-rolled Carbon Steel structure' (2024, Journal of Vibration Engineering & Technologies), and 'Optimization of Vibro-acoustic characteristic of cold rolled sandwich steel cylindrical shell with internal voids using response surface methodology' (2024, Journal of Vibration Engineering & Technologies). He has supervised 16 projects and secured a grant of ₹3,50,000 from AICTE Training & Learning Academy for the project 'Application Of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Techniques In 3D Printing For Next-Gen Materials & Industry 4.0/5.0'. Notably, he guided student teams to first place in the cost-effective category at the national SAE BAJA competition nine times and received a Certificate of Appreciation for achieving 100% results. Dr. Anilkumar A is a member of the Institution of Engineers (India) (MISTE) and holds administrative roles such as Organizing Secretary for ICRIET-2025, coordinator for multiple faculty development programs on industrial safety and design engineering, and convener for seminars on behavior-based safety strategies.
