Archan Mehta is a dedicated Senior Lecturer in Accounting within the School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences at the University of Gloucestershire. His comprehensive academic background equips him exceptionally well for his teaching and leadership roles. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Saurashtra University in India in 2001. Building on this foundation, he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Finance from Oxford Brookes University in 2010. In 2011, he became an Affiliate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a prestigious professional qualification. Additionally, in 2014, he completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) at the University of Gloucestershire, enhancing his pedagogical skills.
Mehta's career trajectory demonstrates a commitment to accounting education. Prior to his arrival at the University of Gloucestershire in 2012, he instructed at various well-known universities and colleges in and around London. There, he contributed to both undergraduate and postgraduate academic courses and provided training for professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA and CIMA. Since joining UoG, he has taken a leading role in teaching key modules including Financial Accounting—his area of specialism—Academic Skills, Professional Skills, and Corporate Governance. Mehta emphasizes innovative teaching strategies, stating: "I like bringing fresh approaches to my teaching that makes learning more exciting and effective. I lead teaching on Financial Accounting (specialism), Academic and Professional skills."
Mehta's research interests lie in Financial Reporting. His contributions to the academic community have been acknowledged through several accolades. He won the Best Practice in Promoting Equality and Diversity award during the 2017-18 academic year. Furthermore, he was nominated for the Most Innovative or Creative Teaching Style award in 2017-18 and the Award for Exceptional Support Beyond Teaching in 2016-17. As an active ACCA Affiliate Member, Mehta bridges the gap between academia and professional practice, fostering the development of future accountants.
