Arnaldo Brown is a Lecturer at the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM), University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, in the Business & Economics faculty. He teaches Business Law I (MGMT2021), delivering instruction to undergraduate students across multiple semesters, including S1 2021/2022 and S1 2022/2023 Stream M11 and S2 2022/2023 Stream M11. Brown was welcomed to the MSBM faculty in September 2016, as noted in the school's official newsletter, bringing his extensive professional experience to the classroom. His courses emphasize practical legal concepts relevant to business operations in Jamaica and the Caribbean region.
Prior to his academic appointment, Brown built a robust career in law and government. He is the principal attorney at Arnaldo Brown and Company, a Kingston-based law firm. Admitted to the Jamaican Bar in 2002 following his Certificate of Legal Education from Norman Manley Law School, Brown earned his law degree and a Master's degree in Government (International Relations) from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He also tutored for two years in the UWI Department of Government. In politics, Brown made history as the first elected Member of Parliament for the newly created East Central St. Catherine constituency in 2011 under the People's National Party. Serving until 2016, he held the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, where he advanced diaspora relations and foreign policy objectives. Brown has contributed to academic and professional discourse through presentations, including a session at the MSBM Business Conference 2017 on incorporating equity into Ease of Doing Business reports, and representation at the Horasis global meeting as an MSBM lecturer. His practitioner background enhances business law education with real-world applications from legal practice, legislative experience, and international relations.
