Dr Arpit Raswant is a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor in the Australian system) and Program Convenor of the Master of International Business at the Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle, Australia. He also serves as a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor (Continuing Lecturer) at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, an Assistant Professor (Permanent Lecturer) and Deputy Director of the MSc International Business and Strategy at Lancaster University, a PhD Candidate and Postgraduate Fellow at the University of Sydney, and a Korea Foundation Fellow at Korea University, South Korea. Raswant holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business from the University of Sydney, a Master’s degree from Korea University with a thesis sponsored by the POSCO Asia Fellowship, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney. His accolades include the University of Sydney International Scholarship (RTP), Business School Research Scholarship, Australian Research Council’s ITRH Scholarship, Best Paper in Global Strategy Prize at the Strategic Management Society Special Conference, Best Conference Paper Award at the Asia Academy of Management Conference, Publication Award from the University of Sydney Business School, Dean's Award from Lancaster University Management School, Emerald Literati Award, Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of World Business, Sustainability Award from Deakin Business School, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is a Beta Gamma Sigma inductee and has contributed to initiatives like Lancaster University Management School's Athena Swan Bronze Award.
Raswant’s research examines firm investment from social, economic, and security perspectives, with focuses on international business, international security, research methods, and space commercialization. He leads a research program on space and has published in top journals including Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Industrial and Business Economics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of East Asian Studies, Pacific Review, Asian Politics & Policy, and Journal of World Business. Notable works include “Space: a new frontier for international business” (Journal of International Business Studies, 2025), “Mercantilism and Space” (Journal of Industrial and Business Economics, 2026), “Organization Capital and International Acquisitions” (Journal of Business Research, 2025), “Threat Perception Variation in the Indo-Pacific” (Journal of East Asian Studies, 2024), “Indo-Pacific Powers: Internalization, Interpretation, and Implementation of International Law” (Pacific Review, 2023), “Australian perspective on engaging with South Korea in the Indo-Pacific” (Asian Politics & Policy, 2023), and “The selection, use, and reporting of control variables in international business research: A review and recommendations” (Journal of World Business, 2018). He co-authored the book “International business and security: Geostrategy in perspective” (2022). Raswant has secured $48,500 in grants, including a $40,000 Australia-Korea Foundation Grant for advancing cooperation on the space economy (2025), and serves as an Officer of the Research Methodology Shared Interest Group of the Academy of International Business.
