About Ashley

Associate Professor Ashley Hopkins is a faculty member in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours, is a registered pharmacist in Australia, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy. Hopkins serves as an NHMRC Investigator from 2022 to 2031 and leads the Clinical Epidemiology and Artificial Intelligence Lab at Flinders University. His research combines clinical epidemiology and artificial intelligence to develop prediction strategies that improve outcomes for people with cancer and to support the creation of safe, accurate, unbiased AI systems and chatbots resistant to disinformation in healthcare.

Hopkins previously held an NBCF postdoctoral research fellowship from 2017 to 2021. He has received the SA Young Investigator Tall Poppy Award in 2021 and the Certara New Investigator Award from ASCEPT-ASPA in 2020. In addition to his research leadership, he chairs the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Epidemiology Group, serves as a member of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Council, and participates on the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer Big Data and Data Sharing Committee.
