Asiyeh Rafieipour is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University, Tempe campus, where she instructs courses in mathematics and data science. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ohio University in 2024, with a dissertation titled "The Magma Monoid and Related Algebraic Structures," directed by Sergio R. López-Permouth. The dissertation conducts a thorough analysis of the semigroup properties of the magma monoid (M(S), ◁), covering Green’s relations, idempotent elements, and regular elements. It examines one-value and two-value graph magmas as subsemigroups, lifts the operation to graph families, and explores kernel-cokernel decompositions along with collaborations of binary operations. Prior to her doctorate, Rafieipour obtained a B.S. from Persian Gulf University in 2009. During her graduate tenure at Ohio University, she served as President of the AMS Graduate Chapter, engaged with the Center for Ring Theory and its Applications, and received financial support as a graduate student in 2022.
Rafieipour's research specializations encompass algebraic structures on binary operations and coding theory. Her key publications include "A Monoid Structure on the Set of All Binary Operations over a Fixed Set," published in Semigroup Forum in 2022 with coauthors Sergio R. López-Permouth and Isaac Owusu-Mensah; "Distributivity Relations on the Binary Operations over a Fixed Set," in Communications in Algebra in 2021 with Sergio R. López-Permouth and others; and "Some New Constructions of Linear Codes Including a Wide Family of MDS Codes," in the Journal of Algebraic Systems in 2020. She presented her research on these topics at multiple American Mathematical Society sectional meetings and international conferences, contributing to advancements in semigroup theory and related fields.
