Bouguettaya's research focuses on service computing, web services, cloud computing, databases, and the Internet of Things, pioneering advancements in transforming sensor data into services such as energy-as-a-service. He has authored or edited over 240 books, chapters, and articles in top venues including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, ACM Transactions on the Web, VLDB Journal, WWW Journal, SIGMOD, ICDE, and EDBT. Key publications include 'Composing Web Services on the Semantic Web' (2003), 'Business-to-Business Interactions: Issues and Enabling Technologies' (2003), 'Deploying and Managing Web Services: Issues, Solutions, and Directions' (2008), 'RateWeb: Reputation Assessment for Trust Establishment Among Web Services' (2009), and 'Efficient Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering' (2015).
