Rate My Professor Attar Singh

Dr. Rajinder Attar Singh is an Adjunct Teaching Fellow in the Graduate School of Education at The University of Western Australia. She completed her Doctor of Education at The University of Western Australia, enrolling on 16 January 2008 and graduating on 11 September 2013, with a thesis entitled "Cooperative concept mapping and students' understanding of, and attitudes towards Science: A study in a rural Malaysian school." Earlier, she obtained her Master of Science in Education Technology from Universiti Putra Malaysia, studying from 1 May 2001 to 31 May 2003 and receiving the award on 14 August 2003. Before pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Singh worked as a high school Science teacher for over 20 years. She has tutored undergraduates, postgraduates, and in-service teachers throughout her extensive career, accumulating diversified teaching experience across various educational levels on two continents.

In her current role, Dr. Singh teaches and coordinates key units in the Master of Teaching program, including Science Curriculum I (EDUC5465), Science Curriculum II (EDUC5475), Child and Adolescent Development and Pedagogy (EDUC5537), and Embedding Digital Literacies Across the Curriculum. Her research specializations focus on STEM disciplines and Digital Literacies, particularly classroom interventions and teaching approaches. She designs challenging, enriching, and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students, incorporating different teaching strategies within school settings. Dr. Singh applies professional and technical skills aligned with the University’s goals to deliver quality subject knowledge through careful planning and designing of curriculum related to interdisciplinary subjects. Her research expertise encompasses science education, cooperative learning, concept mapping, constructivism, teaching and learning. She ensures students are guided, enjoy learning, and excel in their chosen disciplines. Her contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Fluent in English, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, Punjabi, Hindi, and Tamil, Dr. Singh brings a multilingual perspective to her educational practice.
