About Awadhesh

Professor Awadhesh Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi. His academic background includes an M.E. in Computer Aided Design (CAD) from the University of Roorkee in 1993 and a Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee in 2001. Kumar's career in civil engineering and research spans more than three decades. He began as a Technical Assistant and Technical Officer (contract) at the Central Building Research Institute (CSIR), Roorkee, from 1987 to 1991, where he worked on design and drawing of under-reamed pile foundations for Navodaya Vidyalayas. Subsequently, he served as Fellow ‘A’ at the University of Roorkee from 1994 to 1997, Scientist ‘B’ at CBRI from 1997 to 2001, Scientist ‘C’ at CBRI from 2002 to 2006, Associate Professor at Delhi College of Engineering/DTU from 2006 to 2017, and has been Professor at DTU since June 2017, focusing on teaching and R&D.

His research specializations encompass cementitious products, tall buildings, steel structures, and non-linear analysis using the finite element method. Kumar has authored numerous publications in reputed journals, contributing to advancements in structural engineering and sustainable construction. Key works include “Behaviour of RCC Beams after Exposure to Elevated Temperatures” (Journal of the Institution of Engineers, India, 2003), “Ferrocement Box Sections – Viable Option for Floors and Roof of Multi-Storeyed Buildings” (Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2005), “Study on Segmental Construction of Ferrocement Prestressed Box Girder Elements” (Journal of Ferrocement, 2003), “Enhancing concrete performance: Surface modification of recycled coarse aggregates for sustainable construction” (Construction and Building Materials, 2023), “Sustainable Concrete: Exploring Fresh, Mechanical, Durability, and Microstructural Properties with Recycled Fine Aggregates” (Periodica Polytechnica Civil Engineering, 2024), and “Effects of Surface Modified Recycled Coarse Aggregates on Concrete’s Mechanical Characteristics” (Materials Research Express, 2023).
