Barry Phelps serves as Professor and Division Chair of the Science and Technology division at Henderson Community College, an institution within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. He holds a Master of Arts and a Master of Information Systems from Morehead State University, completed in 2016. In 2023, Phelps received promotion to the rank of Professor, reflecting his dedication to education and administration. As Division Chair, he manages programs encompassing biology, business administration, agriculture, computer information technologies, industrial maintenance technology, welding technology, electrical technology, chemistry, and general occupational and technical studies. Phelps also functions as Coordinator of Business Administration, with teaching duties in Computer and Information Technologies, where he imparts critical skills for technical careers. Phelps exhibits substantial leadership across the KCTCS network, having chaired the Faculty Senate for two years in a role described as prestigious, advocating for all system-wide faculty on policy and curriculum issues. He has made significant contributions to Henderson Community College's instructional quality assurance processes and maintains long-term membership on the institution's assessment and accreditation team. Additionally, Phelps engages actively within the college community and holds positions on multiple organizational boards. These efforts highlight his commitment to elevating academic standards, ensuring accreditation compliance, and fostering connections between education and community development in Henderson, Kentucky.
