Rate My Professor Beatrice Tabangcora

Beatrice Tabangcora is a Professional Teaching Fellow in Law at the University of Auckland, where she joined the FOLAU (Moana Oceania staff) team in 2023. Born in Hawai‘i to Samoan and Filipino parents and raised in Apia, she completed her secondary schooling before studying Law at the University of the South Pacific in Port Vila, Vanuatu. She later earned a Master of Laws from Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, where she received the Quentin Baxter Prize in International Law. During her time in Wellington, she completed internships at MBIE and the Ministry of the Environment. Returning to the University of the South Pacific as a lecturer, she taught courses in introductory law, tort law, and commercial law while launching a First Year Initiative programme that supported more than 150 students. She also organised public awareness sessions through the USP Community Legal Information Centre, served on law school committees, and worked as a legal consultant reviewing reforms to Vanuatu’s price control framework. Her research has centred on legal matters in Samoa, with plans to explore the development of torts law in the Pacific. At Auckland Law School, she has contributed to drafting the Pacific Issues moot problem and preparing materials for teaching in South Pacific Legal Studies.
