Beca Spencer, M.A., BCBA, LBS1, is an Assistant Professor of Practice and Undergraduate Program Coordinator in the Applied Behavior Analysis program at Mississippi State University, within the Department of Counseling, Higher Education Leadership, Educational Psychology, and Foundations. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Southern Illinois University in 2003, a Master of Arts in Teaching: Instructional Strategies from Rockford College in 2010, and a Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology in 2019. Spencer also holds a Learning Behavior Specialist 1 Certification from Rockford College (2007) and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA #1-21-51526 since 2021), along with teaching licenses in Illinois and Mississippi.
Prior to joining Mississippi State University, Spencer accumulated eleven years of experience in K-12 special education at Rockford Public School District #205 in Illinois, working as a Special Education Classroom Teacher from 2006 to 2016, Special Education Collaborator from 2013 to 2016, and Special Education Procedural Coach from 2016 to 2017. At MSU, she began in July 2017 as Assistant Director and Lead Instructor of the ACCESS program, a four-year inclusive transition program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, serving until December 2021. She transitioned to the ABA program as Lecturer in August 2021 and became Instructor in January 2022, advancing to her current role as Assistant Professor of Practice. Spencer received the Mississippi State University Center for Distance Education Online Teaching Excellence Award in 2023. She has presented on topics such as resume preparation for ABA graduate students (2023), interactive online tools at the CDE Showcase (2023), interventions for challenging behavior at the LEAPS conference (2022), and ABA introductions in university courses (2022). Currently, she advises the Behavior Analysis Student Organization (BASO).
