Associate Professor Behzad Rismanchi is a leading expert in sustainable building design, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation strategies at the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. Serving as Associate Professor in Building Energy in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering since joining the university in 2015, he leads research within the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Group, focusing on building services engineering, occupant thermal comfort, renewable energy integration, and strategies for reducing building energy consumption. Rismanchi holds a PhD in Energy Management and is a professional member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust). He teaches key subjects including Energy Efficiency Technology and Energy for Sustainable Development, mentoring PhD candidates and early-career researchers while contributing to energy master planning and resilience assessments for public communities.
With over 5,300 citations and an h-index of 35 on Google Scholar, Rismanchi's scholarly impact is significant in the field. Notable publications include 'Fifth-generation district heating and cooling systems' (2024, with Kristian Gjoka and Robert H.
