Belinda Holdsworth serves as Engagement Librarian in the Customer Experience (Engagement) team at the University of Otago Library in Dunedin. She has built a distinguished career in library services at the University of Otago spanning more than two decades, progressing from entry-level positions to leadership roles focused on client services and user engagement.
Holdsworth commenced her professional journey at the University of Otago Library as a part-time Library Assistant in the Science Library at 0.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) around 1998. During this time, she was actively involved in library governance, serving as a member of the Library Staff Committee for the AUSNZ Otago Branch. Concurrently, she pursued advanced qualifications, enrolling in the Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program through distance learning at Victoria University of Wellington. She passed Trimesters 1 and 2 of Year One in 1999, followed by LIBR 549 Business Information Sources, LIBR 525 Information Technology, and LIBR 528 Research Methods in 2001. Holdsworth completed her MLIS with Merit and was shortlisted for the MLIS “Best Database” Award offered by Infospecs in 2003. She also holds a BSc. In addition to her studies, she contributed to the implementation of the Information Resources Access Management System (IRAMS) Circulation module as part of the project team.
