About Bibhuti Bhusan

Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Choudhury serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang, Dhenkanal, Odisha. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 2010 and holds an M.E. degree from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla. His academic expertise encompasses Production Engineering, CAD/CAM, Robotics, and Flexible Manufacturing Systems. Additionally, he holds the position of Professor and Head of the Career Development Centre at the institute, overseeing placement and training activities with contact facilitated through placement@igitsarang.ac.in.

Dr. Choudhury has made significant contributions to research in robotics, mobile robot design, path planning, and multi-criteria decision-making applications in mechanical engineering. Key publications include 'Evaluating motor choices for a smart wheelchair prototype' (2024, co-authored with Prasant Ranjan Dhal et al., published in Engineering Review); 'A Comprehensive Review on Climbing Robots: Mechanisms, Adhesion Techniques and Applications' (2025, with Sushil Kumar Sahoo et al.); 'A Comprehensive Review of Multi-criteria Decision-making Approaches' (2025, with S.K. Sahoo); 'An Effective Track Designing Approach for a Mobile Robot' (2019, with Soubhagya Chandra Sahoo); 'Fuzzy Logic Based Path Planning for Industrial Robot' (with colleagues from IGIT); 'A Bibliometric Analysis of Material Selection Using MCDM Approaches' (2024); and 'An Integrated MCDM Framework for Optimizing Rotary Ultrasonic Machining Parameters' (2024, with S.K. Sahoo). He has supervised research leading to these outputs and received institutional seed money for projects in Production Engineering. Dr. Choudhury has organized and chaired faculty development programs, such as the ATAL FDP on Sustainable Manufacturing, and served on research advisory committees at IGIT.
