About Bivas

Dr. Bivas Saha is an Associate Professor in the International Centre for Materials Science and the Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bengaluru, India. He earned a B.Sc. degree in Physics from Jadavpur University in Kolkata in 2007, an M.S. degree from JNCASR in 2010, and a Ph.D. from Purdue University’s School of Materials Engineering and Birck Nanotechnology Center in 2014. Following his doctorate, he served as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley from 2014 to 2017. He joined JNCASR as an Assistant Professor in 2018 and has since been promoted to Associate Professor.

His research focuses on heterostructures and thin films, metal/semiconductor superlattices, refractory plasmonics and radiative cooling, and artificial synapses. Dr. Saha is a Faculty Fellow of JNCASR and serves as Faculty Director of the JNCASR Nanofabrication Laboratory. He is an Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences, elected in 2020, and received the Young Scientist Research Award from the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences in 2020. He has held roles including Coordinator of the JNC Summer Research Fellowship Program in Physical Sciences and Co-chair of the JNCASR Alumni Association.
