Dr. Brent Colby is the Dean of Online Studies and Lecturer at Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels, Belgium, positions he has held since 2022. He earned a B.A. in Pastoral Studies from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington in 2005, an M.A. in Leadership Studies from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California in 2013, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida in 2020. His doctoral dissertation, titled 'Evaluating the Role of Empowering Leadership and Church Health,' explores leadership dynamics in ministry contexts. Colby's career includes extensive experience in pastoral ministry and children's ministry leadership. He served as Youth Pastor at Westwood Christian Community in Seattle, Washington from 2001 to 2005, Children’s Pastor at Gateway Fellowship in Poulsbo, Washington from 2005 to 2011, Family Ministry Pastor and later Associate Pastor at Evergreen Christian Community in Olympia, Washington from 2011 to 2021, and Children’s Ministry Director at the Northwest Ministry Network in Snoqualmie, Washington from 2012 to 2017. Additionally, he works as an Adjunct Professor at Northwest University since 2012 and as a Global Worker with Assemblies of God World Missions since 2021. Ordained as a minister with the Assemblies of God Northwest Ministry Network in 2007, he is a member of the European Pentecostal Theological Association and the Society for Pentecostal Studies since 2023.
At Continental Theological Seminary, Dr. Colby teaches courses such as Biblical Pentecostal Hermeneutics, Communicating with Children, Pastoral Care of Children, Church in Ministry, Ministry Operations, Family Ministry Development, Ministry Life and Calling, Effective Preaching, Ministry Leadership and Administration, Pentecostal Systematic Theology: Ecclesiology and Eschatology, Theology of Ministry Essentials, Faith in Society, Pastoral Counseling, Pastoral Pentecostal Theology, and History of Church and Pentecostal Theology: From the Beginning to Reformation. His research interests include organizational leadership and church health. Key publications comprise the Fusion children's ministry book series published by the Northwest Ministry Network in 2017, including Fusion: Children’s Ministry Book One: Theology, Leadership, Environment; Fusion: Children’s Ministry Book Two: Family, Science, Strategy; and Fusion: Children’s Ministry Book Three: Culture, Perspectives, Pastoral Ministry. He also authored An Account of Wesleyan Sanctification in 2012 and contributed articles to 6 Children’s Ministry Essentials: A Quick-Access Guide in 2017. Colby has presented on topics including discipleship strategy, servant leadership, ministry systems, and children's ministry at various conferences and churches.
