Brian Lee, MD, PhD, serves as Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Biomedical Engineering (Clinical Scholar) at the University of Southern California. He holds appointments in the Keck School of Medicine and the Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Viterbi School of Engineering. Dr. Lee directs the MD-PhD Program at USC and directs Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. His academic background includes undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, a PhD in computational neuroscience from the California Institute of Technology, and an MD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He completed residency training in neurosurgery at USC and a fellowship in stereotactic and functional epilepsy at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Lee’s work centers on brain-machine interfaces and cortical stimulation techniques, including research on generating percepts of somatosensation through stimulation of the primary somatosensory cortex.
