Professor Bronwyn Fox AO is Professor in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise at the University of New South Wales. She commenced as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise at UNSW in mid-July 2024. Prior to this appointment, she served as Chief Scientist at CSIRO and previously held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise at Swinburne University. Professor Fox is an internationally recognised expert on carbon fibre and composite materials. She was the founding Director of Swinburne’s Manufacturing Futures Research Institute as well as Deakin’s Carbon Nexus facility.
In October 2023, Professor Fox was appointed by the Minister for Science and Industry as Australia’s Expert Adviser to the International Scientific Report on Advanced AI Safety. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, a Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Professor Fox is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a former Chair of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering Victorian Division. She has served as a member of the National Quantum Advisory Committee and as Chair of the National Robotics Strategy Advisory Committee. Professor Fox is the Honorary President of the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Museums Victoria.
