Professor Bruce Robinson is an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney and Professor Emeritus in the Northern Clinical School. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney in 1980, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1991 from the same institution, and a Master of Science (MSc) from Harvard University. As Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology), he served as Dean of Sydney Medical School from 2007 to 2016. Previously, he headed the Division of Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital from 1998 to 2006 and established the Molecular Genetics Unit, now the Cancer Genetics Unit, at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research in 1989 following a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School from 1986 to 1989.

Robinson's academic interests center on the genetic factors contributing to tumour formation in endocrine glands, including the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary, with a focus on endocrine cancers. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, including chapters such as '90: Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma and Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2' in Endocrinology - E-Book: Adult and Pediatric (2010) and contributions to Endocrinology Adult and Pediatric: The Thyroid Gland (2013) and Oxford Desk Reference: Endocrinology (2018). His research has significant impact, evidenced by thousands of citations. Robinson chaired the National Health and Medical Research Council from 2015 to 2021 and the Australian Government’s Medicare Benefits Schedule Review Taskforce. Major awards include the Companion of the Order of Australia (2020) for eminent service to medicine, the Centenary Medal (2001) for service to medicine, and the People’s Health Medal (2008) from the Vietnamese Government. He maintains clinical practice as an endocrinologist at Royal North Shore Hospital, serves on editorial boards for journals including Clinical Endocrinology and Thyroid, and holds non-executive directorships at Healius Limited, Cochlear Limited, Mayne Pharma Group Limited, and CS Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
