Caleb Q. Cook is a Lecturer in Physics in the Martin A. Fisher School of Physics at Brandeis University. He earned an AB from Harvard College in 2015, an MSc from the University of Waterloo in 2016, and a PhD from Stanford University in 2022. Prior to joining Brandeis, he taught at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics from 2022 to 2024 and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the College of William & Mary.
As a theoretical physicist, his research has explored topics including the electron hydrodynamics of ultra-pure, low-symmetry metals and the physics behind the structural coloration of beetles and butterflies. His publications include “Electron hydrodynamics with a polygonal Fermi surface” (2019), “Theory of chirped photonic crystals in biological broadband reflectors” (2016), and “Viscometry of electron fluids from symmetry” (2021). Cook joined the Brandeis faculty in fall 2025.
