Cameron Whiting serves as an Associate Lecturer in Animation and Game Design within the School of Design and the Built Environment at Curtin University, which is part of the Faculty of Humanities. Located at the Curtin Perth campus in Building 212, Textiles and Printmaking, he has been a sessional academic since 2019. Whiting holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Curtin University. His teaching focuses on animation and game design, including 3D modeling, web design, user experience (UX) design, motion graphics, video editing, special effects, and graphic design. As a freelance motion designer based in Perth, Australia, he offers services in 3D modeling, motion graphics, video editing, website development, and graphic design to clients such as Curtin University, BEVIN Creative, Glide Agency, Cancer Council, and Clubs WA. Whiting demonstrates proficiency in industry-standard tools including Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Unreal Engine, allowing him to bridge artistic storytelling with advanced technology in educational and professional settings.
In his concurrent role as Technical Officer for the School of Design and the Built Environment, Cameron Whiting significantly contributes to the promotion and digital enhancement of student work via the official DBE Exhibitions platform. He authors detailed online entries for numerous student exhibitions, including Design Studio (02 June 2023), a third-year unit for Interior Architecture students; Technology in Making – Brief for Design (02 October 2023), where students designed lighting units to evoke user emotions; RETROACTIVE (29 August 2023), documenting two decades of DBE global study activity; Project X (19 May 2023), showcasing major units from the final year of the Master of Architecture; Language of Dress (10 July 2023), featuring third-year Fashion and Textile Design student work; 20|30 Fashion + Interior Architecture Retrospective (29 August 2022); Sustainability in Construction Management (01 October 2023), with virtual tours; Bush Studio (29 March 2023), a project led by Justin Owen to engage students; and GradFest 2023 Retrospective (28 February 2024).
