Casandra Cox serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology within the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She has been a faculty member since 2003, starting as an instructor and advancing to her current position after earning her Ph.D. in Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences from the University of Arkansas, in addition to her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the same institution. Her work aligns with Agricultural and Veterinary Science through focused expertise in agricultural communications.
Cox's research specializations include agricultural communications, social media applications in extension and agriculture information seeking, urban agriculture dynamics in rural states, leadership development, and workforce development. Key publications feature "Extension Educators’ Use of Social Media for Promoting Extension-related Activities" (2025), "An Assessment of College Students’ Use of Social Media for Agriculture-related Information Seeking" (2025), "Assessing the Integration of QR Codes in Extension Outreach Communication Graphics: A Visual Content Analysis" (2025), "Perceptions of Professionals, Faculty, and Students Regarding the Implementation of an Agricultural Communications Degree Program in the United Kingdom" (2024), "Themes and Tones of Blog Posts about Animal Agriculture and Protein Production" (2022), "Exploring Interactions Between Arkansas Urban Producers: Social Networks and Modes of Information Seeking" (2022), "Finding the Five R's in Exemplary Agricultural Publication Capstone Courses" (2014), and "College students' perceptions of a work-related international study tour experience" (2013). She directs graduate theses, advises Collegiate 4-H, and contributes to projects analyzing media coverage of animal agriculture to aid industry communicators. Cox has delivered the Cordes Chair Seminar "Teaching Authentically in an Age of Reality Superstars" (2021).
Her distinguished teaching career includes the Dale Bumpers College John W. White Outstanding Teaching Award, Jack G. Justus Excellence in Teaching Award, Cordes Chair Fellowship, and Fellowship in the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy.
