Cathie Child is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Marketing, Commerce Division of the Otago Business School at the University of Otago. She joined the Department of Marketing in 2010 and is responsible for the administration of undergraduate teaching and the coordination of a number of papers. As Teaching Coordinator, she manages the operational aspects of multiple courses, ensuring effective delivery for students. The papers under her coordination include MART112 Marketing Management, for which she provides tutoring; MART201 Integrated Marketing Communications; MART207 Sports Marketing; MART210 Consumer Behaviour; MART211 Products to Markets; MART212 Understanding Markets; MART308 Digital Marketing; MART301 Strategic Marketing; MART333 Creative Marketing Communication; and MART355 Business Project. These papers span introductory marketing management to advanced topics such as digital and strategic marketing, as well as specialized areas like sports marketing and creative communications. Cathie also serves as the paper administrator for several of these courses, handling enquiries related to tutorials, assignments, and administrative matters.
In her student-facing roles, Cathie Child acts as the Undergraduate Student Adviser for the Department of Marketing, offering guidance on course selection and academic planning. She is designated as the Academic Subject Adviser for Marketing through the University of Otago's Course Advice service, available at telephone +64 3 479 9048. Additionally, she fulfills the role of Departmental Pacific Islands' Support Liaison for Marketing, supporting Pacific students in the department from her office CO 4.42 on Level 4 of the Business School. Her office hours are set on Wednesdays from 11:00am to 12:00pm and Fridays from 11:00am to 12:00pm, facilitating direct access for students seeking advice. Cathie Child's contributions to teaching administration and student support are integral to the Department of Marketing's operations at the University of Otago.
