Dr Charlotte Wilson is the Biological Compliance Officer at the University of Otago, part of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team responsible for laboratory safety and biological compliance. She advises on biological hazards, supports containment facility certifications, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for research involving biological agents. Dr Wilson holds a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Otago, awarded in 2007 for her thesis 'Searching for receptor(s) of the neuroprotective secreted Amyloid precursor protein alpha (sAPPα)'. She contributed technically to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology under Emeritus Professor Gerald W. Tannock, assisting with high-throughput sequencing data analysis acknowledged in 'tuf Gene Sequence Variation in Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum' (Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 2018) and support noted in 'Resource partitioning in relation to cohabitation of Lactobacillus species in the mouse forestomach' (2011) as well as multiple lab theses. Previously listed as Secretary of a containment committee associated with the Department of Biochemistry, she participated in Health and Safety adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic, including virtual team meetings.
