Rate My Professor Christian Becker

Becker's research specializes in distributed systems, context-aware computing, and architectures for adaptive systems, with applications in pervasive computing, edge computing, and self-organizing systems. He has authored more than 180 technical papers. Key recent publications include "Rethinking MAPE: Next Generation Adaptation Control for Learning Adaptive Systems" (Krupitzer, Henrichs, & Becker, 2024), "Revisiting Edge AI: Opportunities and Challenges" (Meuser et al., IEEE Internet Computing, 2024), "SmartGrid-NG: Blockchain Protocol for Secure Transaction Processing in Next Generation Smart Grid" (Vishwakarma, Das, Das, & Becker, 2024), "PerSiVal: On-Body AR Visualization of Biomechanical Arm Simulations" (Yu et al., IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2024), "Performance and Usability Evaluation of Brainwave Authentication Techniques with Consumer Devices" (Arias-Cabarcos et al., ACM Transactions on Privacy and Security, 2023), "An Overview on Approaches for Coordination of Platoons" (Lesch et al., IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2022), and "Pervasive computing middleware: current trends and emerging challenges" (Becker et al., 2019). Becker has influenced the academic community through leadership positions such as member of the IEEE PerCom steering committee, general chair of IEEE PerCom in 2010, TPC chair of IEEE PerCom in 2016, and general chair of IEEE Mobile Data Management in 2007 and 2023.
