Christina Harris, MSN, RN-BC, CNE, is a Lecturer of Nursing at the University of Southern Maine's School of Nursing, a position she has held since 2019. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Walden University in 2011 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 2024. Harris is currently enrolled in the Interdisciplinary PhD program at the University of Maine and holds a Holistic and Integrative Health Certificate. Her professional career includes extensive clinical experience at Mid Coast Hospital since 2006, where she served as Clinical Staff Nurse in Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics from 2006 to 2010, Clinical Staff Nurse in Intensive Care from 2010 to 2014, Director of Nursing Practice and Education from 2014 to 2019, and Clinical Supervisor from 2019 to present, recently transitioning to PACU in October 2024.
Harris teaches a range of undergraduate nursing courses, including Health Assessment Lecture and Lab, Nursing Fundamentals Lab, Adult/Older Adult Health, Intermediate Skills Lab, Advanced Skills Lab, Leadership and Ethics, Senior Practicum, Introduction to Nursing, and Concepts of Professional Nursing across semesters from Fall 2019 to Fall 2024. Her research focuses on resilience, with completed projects such as 'Compassion Fatigue in Clinical Nurses: a Systematic Review' (2019) and 'Passion in Nursing' (2022). She authored the chapter 'Clinical Nurse Educator' in the book The Many Roles of the Professional Nurse (2020). Harris presented the poster 'Perceived Faculty Support and Stress Among Baccalaureate Nursing Students: A Systematic Review.' She chairs the Undergraduate Admissions and Advancement Committee (UGAA) since September 2022 and serves on the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UGCC) since September 2021. Previously, she was USM School Counselor for Sigma Theta Tau Kappa Zeta chapter from 2021 to 2023. Harris maintains Maine RN licensure and Certified Nurse Educator certification (expires 2027) and is a member of the National League for Nursing and American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
