Christine Groves serves as the Research Advisor at the University of Otago's Wellington campus. In this capacity, she guides researchers through funding options, assists with externally funded research applications, reviews and approves Costing & Consents Worksheets (CCW), comments on tender documents for Requests for Proposal (RFP), and supports Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) as needed. Her expertise is essential for the research community's success in securing grants and managing funding processes. Groves holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAppSci) from the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and was appointed to the university in 2003. She has progressed through roles such as Postgraduate Liaison Officer and Research Manager, contributing significantly to research administration at the Wellington campus. She is acknowledged in multiple postgraduate theses for her support with grant applications and funding guidance, including works on supported self-management in cancer survivorship care (2016), mixed presenters in emergency departments, refugee health care handbooks (2024), and Tuning In To Teens in Aotearoa New Zealand. Groves also provides Justice of the Peace services for the university community.
