About Cody

Dr. Cody Morris serves as Associate Professor of Behavior Analysis, Graduate Programs Director for the M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Behavior Analysis, and Chair of the Office of Research Integrity in the Department of Psychology at Salve Regina University. He joined Salve Regina in 2019 as Assistant Professor, advancing to Associate Professor in 2025. Prior to this, he held roles at Western Michigan University including Practicum Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor at Psychological Assessment and Treatment Services from 2015 to 2019, as well as Graduate Assistant and Group Leader. Dr. Morris earned his Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University in 2019 (dissertation: A Component Analysis of an Electronic Data Collection Package), M.A. in Psychology: Behavior Analysis in 2016 (thesis: The Effects of Electronic Data Collection, Immediate Graphic Feedback, and Automated Scheduled Prompts on Data Collection Adherence), and B.S. in Psychology in 2013, graduating cum laude. His professional experience also encompasses behavioral consulting positions such as Behavioral Consultant at Atlas Behavioral Consultation since 2023 and various independent contracts from 2016 to 2023.

The research focus of Dr. Cody Morris centers on enhancing the practice of behavior analysis to improve quality of life for vulnerable populations, with specific interests in client involvement and assent in therapeutic decisions, assessment and treatment strategies for challenging behavior, organizational practices, autonomy, developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. Notable publications include "Private equity in behavior analysis: a reckoning" (Perspectives on Behavior Science, 2025), "Toward a further understanding of assent" (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2024), "Comparisons of choice and no choice: A systematic review" (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2024), "Participant assent in behavior analytic research: considerations for participants with autism and developmental disabilities" (Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2021), and over two dozen peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Behavior Analysis in Practice and Behavioral Interventions. Dr. Morris contributes to the field as an editorial board member for Behavior Analysis in Practice and Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, director of the executive board for the Rhode Island Association for Behavior Analysis, and host of the "All Things Behavior" podcast. His achievements include the Antone Award from Salve Regina University in 2022, Lead Awardee for programmatic improvements in 2021 and 2022, and several honors from Western Michigan University including the Graduate Student Make a Difference Award in 2018.
