About Colin
Colin Brown is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Marketing at New York University Stern School of Business, affiliated with the Entertainment, Media and Technology program. He teaches courses such as Globalization of the Entertainment Industry. Brown also serves on the Faculty Committee of NYU’s Cinema Research Institute, where he helps award annual fellowships to innovative models of financing, producing, marketing, and distributing media and entertainment. Additionally, he teaches The Future of Film to graduate students at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, incubating disruptive ideas in the process.
Based in Brooklyn, Colin Brown is a film industry analyst involved in several ventures designed to transform how cinema conducts its global business. As Editorial Director for Slated, the private online marketplace for film investing and industry introductions, he writes the widely circulated Filmonomics blog and hosts monthly film investor discussion forums in New York and Los Angeles. A longstanding consultant for the Dubai International Film Festival, Brown is Managing Partner in MAD Solutions, the innovative pan-Arab distribution outfit building the first independent film studio to serve the entire Arab-speaking region. Prior to joining Slated, he was an award-winning editor and journalist at Screen International for more than two decades, including as Editor-in-Chief. As a film critic, he has served on numerous film festival juries, including the Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Dramatic Competition in 2009.
