D. Murali Manohar is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Hyderabad, a position he has held since January 21, 2016. His academic journey at the university began earlier, advancing from Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in English since 2004, to Reader on January 20, 2010, and Associate Professor from January 20, 2013, to January 20, 2016. Prior to his university career, he served as a Post Graduate Teacher at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Haryana from November 2, 1995, to July 27, 1998, and as a Project Assistant in the Department of English at the University of Hyderabad starting September 5, 1995. He holds a B.A.Ed. from the Regional College of Education, Mysore (NCERT) in 1991, an M.A. in English from the University of Hyderabad in 1993, an M.Phil. in English from the same institution in 1995 with a dissertation on Man-Woman Relationship in Kamala Das’ Poetry, and a Ph.D. in English in 2005, focusing on Marriage, Career and Divorce among “Educated” Women in Post-Independence Indian English Women’s Fiction.
Professor Manohar's research specializations encompass Indian English Literature, Indian English Women’s Fiction, Dalit Studies, Women’s Studies, and English Language Teaching. He has authored five full-length books, including Indian English Women's Fiction: A Study of Marriage, Career and Divorce (Atlantic Publishers, 2007), Development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in India (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2009), Writing India Anew: Indian English Fiction 2000-2010 (Amsterdam University Press, 2014), and Critical Essays on Dalit Literature (Atlantic Publishers, 2018). Additionally, he has edited ten books, contributed 26 research articles to edited volumes, and published 16 articles in journals. His work has garnered 259 citations. He has supervised 14 M.Phil. degrees and 3 Ph.D. theses. Manohar has organized seven national seminars and one international seminar, conducted two refresher courses, delivered 31 invited lectures, keynotes, and valedictory addresses, and chaired eight sessions. He has served on the Board of Studies, School Board of Studies, Academic Council, University Court, and Executive Council, and acted as Head of the Department of English. He has also contributed to external university boards, UGC remedial coaching, and committees for recruitment and confidential matters.
